Small series in the podcast „Well through the time“

The podcast about mediation, conflict coaching and organisational consulting

Small series in the podcast „Well through time“ +++ An overview (continuously updated) +++ Status 2025-07

Introduction:

This blog post thematically structures the main topics of the podcast "Gut durch die Zeit", a podcast produced by INKOVEMA – Institute for Conflict and Negotiation Management in Leipzig.

INKOVEMA is a consulting and training institute that specialises in at the core of conflict management is our focus. Conflict is the reason for our counselling, rather than other focal topics such as leadership, partnership, change, etc. – they all play just as much a role in conflict management as vice versa: how often do leadership developers have to deal with conflict issues?

The negotiation processes resulting from conflicts as well as those leading into conflicts can take place in various settings, of which the Institute's practical focus is primarily on MEDIATION, COACHING and ORGANISATIONAL CONSULTING supports. Hence the subtitle of the podcast ;-)

The following is therefore an overview of the variety of topics covered in the podcast. We have decided to divide the podcast into small series in order to emphasise the complexity of the conflict management options and framework conditions. This was done in the course of developing and unfolding the podcast and was not created on the drawing board from the outset. j

The small rows have Two directions of impact:

  • In terms of content, they serve to realise the core objective of the podcast: To present the diversity and complexity of mediated conflict management and in this way to counteract the simplistic idea of one to counteract mediation.
  • Formally, they help to maintain an overview and find an order in the constant sequence of weekly podcast episodes.

1. styles of mediation

This short series introduces the different styles and possibilities for mediating in conflicts.

Example episodes:

2. fields of mediation

Conflict management is necessary in all areas, sectors and environments. And the differences naturally also have an impact on conflict management and conflict mediation. This series presents the various fields of work.

Example episodes:

3. forms of mediation

Classic mediation takes place in a triangle, at best in 3D. But conflict mediation and conflict management takes many forms and shapes. These are explained here.

Example episodes:

4. the helpless consultants - with Günther Mohr and Rolf Balling

What do you do when you don't know what to do as a consultant? In this series, I sit down with two experienced colleagues, Günther Mohr and Rolf Balling, to talk about precisely those moments when counselling doesn't go as planned. We discuss the loss of progress, the role of organisations and the challenges of modern consulting.

Example episodes:

  • #30 - When counsellors are at a loss I or what is counselling today?
  • #35 – When counsellors are clueless II or what is attitude?
  • #43 - When consultants are at a loss III or what organisations are today.
  • #50 - When counsellors are at a loss IV and the contribution of transactional analysis to a general theory of counselling.
  • #59 - When counsellors are at a loss V or what is the self-realisation paradox.
  • #74 - When consultants are at a loss VI or the role of the state in the economy
  • #86 - When consultants are at a loss VII or what added value does counselling have?
  • #96 - When consultants are clueless VIII or what is the difference between the management and the consulting paradigm?
  • #134 - Ratlose Berater IX oder wenn ratlos Berater beratungsreich Berater beraten.
  • #148 - Perplexed consultants X - Loss of progress
  • # 199 - Perplexed counsellors XI - Which problems of coaches and mediators are artificial intelligences the answer to?

5. contributions from the conflict dynamics

The specialist journal Konfliktdynamik is a leader when it comes to mediation and negotiation. Articles are regularly presented here and discussed with the authors.

6. transaction-analytical concepts

As a teaching transactional analyst, I naturally use the concepts and models of this time-honoured school of counselling in coaching sessions and mediations. They get to the heart of the matter, from which good further steps can be taken. A real treasure trove!

7. systems theory concepts

Systems theory and systemic thinking are considered mainstream and state of the art in modern counselling work. This sociological approach has comprehensively enriched psychological thinking and counselling to new heights in our „counselling society“. The fundamentals of this approach are presented in this series.

8. concepts by Rolf Balling - with Rolf Balling

Rolf Balling thinks faster than others speak - reason enough to regularly hold a microphone under his nose. In this series, we explore his concepts on role clarification, on consulting in the field of tension between organisation and person - and sometimes also on things that he spontaneously invents in conversation. A pause for thought for the advanced.

Example episodes:

9th New technologies for mediation and counselling - with Dr Frank Termer

In December 2022, I spoke to ChatGPT for the first time about counselling and mediation. Back then, this AI couldn't talk and I asked Siri for help. Not yet three years ago, but already a memory from another world.

But this series started much earlier – and in the course of time, Dr Frank Termer, a flesh-and-blood specialist, has joined us.

Example episodes:

10. preventive and anticipatory conflict measures - with Dr Jörg Schneider-Brodtmann

I discuss with Dr Jörg Schneider-Brodtmann how potential conflicts can be identified and exploited at an early stage. Why wait for the conflict when you already have a solution beforehand?

In this series, however, we also examine legal perspectives and digital tools for conflict prevention and anticipation.

Example episodes:

11. marketing for mediation services

Mediation is an imposition. Many mediators do not realise this, especially if they are in love with their product, this process or even just their attitude.

Paradoxically, this prevents the practice of mediation.

This will be explained in this series.

12. organisational mediation – mediation in, with, for and by the organisation

If the client is not a party to the conflict, there are many follow-up questions for mediation. This series deals with them.

13. having difficult conversations – with Rolf Balling

With Rolf Balling, I have filtered out the difficult conversations that are the subject of this short, self-contained series.

14th Trust - with Prof Dr Guido Möllering

Trust is good - but what exactly is it? In this series, I talk to Guido Möllering about trust between colleagues, between organisations - and sometimes even in oneself. Topics: Trust as a risk, trust in times of crisis, and why control is no substitute for trust (but is sometimes a good thing).

Example episodes:

15. power

Mediation also revolves around power. It also asks about feasibility.

Above all, this series reveals mediators' strange relationship to power, especially their own power.

16 The works council as a conflict actor - with lawyer Antje Burmester

Works councils can initiate, mediate and resolve conflicts, but hardly ever just observe them. They are often in the thick of it themselves. I talk to Antje Burmester about the dual role of works councils: committed, combative and at the centre of the conflict between employees, employers and themselves. We take real cases apart, talk about legal tools - and about humour as a works agreement.

  • #223 - Conflict actor works council. Part 3 - Conflicts between the works council committee and management.
  • #211 - Conflict actor works council. Part 2 - Conflicts between works council committees.
  • #205 - Conflict actor works council. Part 1 - Conflicts within works council committees.
  • #173 GddZ - Works council and internal conflict management. What role does mediation play here? In conversation with Dr Marcus Bauckmann

17 Socio-political conflicts

War has returned with a vengeance in Europe. As mediators, we have to deal with it.

18. counselling history

Counselling is not a new phenomenon, but it is an economic growth sector like no other. This short series aims to clarify the dimensions of counselling work – and to place mediation and coaching in the context of society as a whole.

19 Mediation and justice policy

Mediation has been legalised in a way that supervision, coaching, group dynamics, training and organisational development have never managed – or even happened. Depending on your point of view. This has consequences.

20. cooperation – with Prof Gudio Möllering
