Lecture (slides & audio overview)

Artificial intelligence and new technologies for mediators.

The mediator's digital assistant (Mediation Festival BM 2024)

Mediation Festival 27 September 2024 +++ Federal Mediation Association +++ Congress Park Hanau

Summary:

The presentation deals with the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in the form of GPTs on mediation and the work of conflict counsellors, mediators and advisors. The authors, Prof Dr Sascha Weigel and Dr Frank Termer, argue that AI will play an important role in the field of mediation in the future, both for mediators and clients.

They present a range of AI tools that can already be used to support mediations as well as for the preparation and follow-up of work, from design tools to research tools and chatbot tools. The authors emphasise the need to take a critical look at AI-supported solutions and validate the results. They see AI not only as a tool for mediators, but also as an opportunity for a new type of conflict resolution that is supported by digital assistance systems.

The Audio recording was created with the help of NotebookLM, a free service from Google that is based on the Gemini model.
