Handling conflicts in the workplace – with a system.
- Extensive Study on the effectiveness of mediation in workplace conflicts published.
In a new study (pdf(English full version) comprehensively analysed how the relatively high satisfaction rates shortly after a completed mediation are represented after a further year – and whether the respective functional role of the participants (manager, team member, etc.) has an influence on this. In addition, it was also asked whether there were differences between mediation that shaped further collaboration and final separation.- The study was published in the Negotiation Journal 2018, 34/ (3), 243 ff..

New perspectives – new ways of understanding
- What do the election results show? A shift to the right? Is it about right versus left or old versus young or conservative versus progressive? Or are there new lines of social conflict? For many, the world they knew is in danger: what used to be normal is now being demonised, declared wrong, disreputable and outdated? By whom anyway? The „perceived normality“, flanked by „common sense“, becomes a media-spread problem that portrays us as old, outdated, dangerous, old-fashioned and stubborn. „White Privilege, but Trash“???
- Eating meat is bad for the environment! Having children too?!
- Asking obvious strangers about their origin is supposed to be racist! So is being against foreign criminality?!
- Best diesel cars ever to drive will be banned?! Even German diesels?!
- Good, melodious German should be discriminatory?! Even if women are visibly courted with it?!
- Even at the bakery round the corner you can't get a „German Semmel“ without English! And you stay dry when getting a beer?!
- How can this be understood when all you want is your well-earned peace and quiet, order and a well-ordered life together? Surely there must be someone who says what order is? No!
- On the occurrence (possible) new lines of conflictthat need to be brought to the table in the world of work if they are not to spread between those involved. Link
- The actual Origin of empathy lies in the need to be able to judge what the other people involved will think and do in unclear social situations without much information. It is therefore explicitly not a form of empathising, but at best of being able to empathise, which is not mandatory. Rather, it is a cognitive and imaginative performance – and thus, according to the two scientists Fabrizio Mafessoni (Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig) and Michael Lachmann (Santa Fe Institute in New Mexico), it is a consequence of evolutionary bartering.
