The evaluative mediation style.

Localisation. Description. Interventions. Risks.

Audio summary INKOVEMA blog post (2020).

The blogcast and the underlying blog post describe the evaluative mediation style, an approach that is rather rare in Germany. In contrast to other mediation styles, it involves the mediator professionally assessing the positions in dispute and proposing solutions. This style, which has its roots in the Anglo-Saxon world, is mainly used in legally complex contexts, but also harbours risks in terms of neutrality and the parties' own responsibility. The text analyses both the advantages and potential problems of this approach.
