INKOVEMA Podcast „Well through time“

#35 – When counsellors are at a loss or what is attitude.

Does attitude describe something purely internal or is it verifiable by behaviour – and if so, why emphasise inwardness?

Balling-Mohr-Weigel Talks

Well through time. The podcast about mediation, conflict coaching and organisational consulting.

Sascha Weigel talks to the well-known and experienced consultants and coaches Günther Mohr and Rolf Balling on the changed ideas, expectations and requirements of the counselling profession.

Everywhere in the counselling world, there is talk of the decisive „attitude“, not infrequently that it is (solely or optionally primarily) the „inner attitude“ that matters. And yet this inner attitude is visible in behaviour, can be checked and is used for self-discipline and attempts to discipline others. What is this all about – and why is the inner attitude often emphasised instead of „simply“ training and refining behaviour? Is it to do with the fear that counselling would then run the risk of degenerating into a mere technique, a simple craft? Or is an explicit focus on the inner constitution required for a communicative, dialogue-focused activity such as modern, systemic-humanistically based counselling?
